Custom Content Junkie - Get Your Fix Here!
simscclinks
[lueanne]
Hi!
I only have the base game and University so far. No stuff packages. I've been downloading custom content like a crazy person and have had a couple of misshaps. Still, I can't help myself...GOTTA DOWNLOAD! I just think the custom content adds so much to the game. Anyway, some of the clothes I download are all wonky in the game. I mean when you select the outfit or whatever, on the sim it's kind of zig zaggy. Any advice as to how to fix that, did I do something wrong? Or is it just not gonna work and should I just delete them?

Thanks so much!

If you're just downloading clothes and dumping them in your downloads folder, then there's not much you can do wrong. Some content creators do a better job than others. Sometimes something looks good when the character holds still at the right angle but goes awful when they start moving. A bad mesh is really damning.

Your best bet is to be careful to organize your downloads and try out new things before adding them to your general collection. That way, if you get it in the game and don't like how it turns out, it's easy to find and delete.

If you're like most of us, there's nothing you can do if you download something that just doesn't work. Sigh, toss it, and watch for something better to turn up. Learn to look for custom stuff from developers you trust. If you've got the talent and editing tools, you can start making your own content, but that's not a small task. Also, be sure to ask the original author(s) before you start modifying someone else's work.

Thanks so much. I really don't see myself creating. I think I'd just make a mess.

How do you organize your downloads? I thought all you could do was dump them into the downloads folder.

Lol, I've never bothered to learn to create anything that didn't already have a premade mesh. So, clothes and wallpaper/floors have been my limit.

I organize mine by maker/site. It just makes it easier to find and toss things I don't want, and I'm pretty sure that there's a limit to how many downloads you can have all in one folder, so organizing them in separate folders within the Downloads folder should allow you to fit in more downloads without trouble.
